The Big Texan Motel

The room was roomy and comfortable. I liked the theme and that i could just walk next door for food. The theme of the room was comfortable, too, like a modern barn house. And I really appreciate that i could use a code instead of having to remember to bring a key card with me. And there was a dog park, which was nice to have, though it was a bit small. They also extended my stay until noon, with no extra cost, when my dog got out.

This is part of the Big Texan Steakhouse complex. EVERYONE should go to the Big Texas Steakhouse at least once in their lifetime. It's amazing! We received our room assignment and door code by text before we arrived. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom facilities were good. It's easy to find and a good location for exploring Amarillo. We usually just spend one night in Amarillo on our way to Colorado Springs, but we spent two nights so we could go see the Texas Outdoor Musical at Palo Verde Canyon (another must see). If you like Western decor, this is the place for you.

This is a great place to stay. It's clean and the lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was good and everything worked! I think each room is unique, which is quite special and the way they have themed the whole place is a lot of fun. Unfortunately we got there too late and left too early to take advantage of the Tezas-shaped pool. Maybe next time! Having the huge steakhouse with it's excellent food right there on the doorstep is a definite bonus. If you're just passing through Amarillo, I would highly recommend this place for an instant Texas fix! The gift shop is worth a visit too.

I liked that it was right across from the restaurant and that it was colorful and fun. It was definitely a road trip type place to stay and we enjoyed going to the restaurant and store across the parking lot.

Easy access from many roads and highways. The Big Texan Steak House was next door. The ambience was enjoyable. The gift shop in the steakhouse had the usual China made gifts. Nothing new there. But…there was a live rattlesnake in a glass case in the rear of the gift shop. Interesting. There was a horse “hotel” in the back part of the property and I happened to return to my room when ten or so horses were being stabled for the night. Was able to walk up to pen and get close. Beautiful animals. The room was Texas themed. Could benefit a little paint and sprucing up. Everything worked though. Cleaning staff and front desk were polite and helpful.
